Akademik Chersky to be upgraded for Gazprom’s Sakhalin project
MOSCOW, Feb 10 (PRIME) -- Pipelaying vessel Akademik Chersky, earlier reportedly heading for an upgrade in Singapore before completing the Nord Stream-2 pipeline, will work on Gazprom’s Kirinskoye gas condensate deposit on the Sakhalin Island, according to the state procurements portal, seen by PRIME on Monday.
Gazprom has been looking for a contractor to upgrade Akademik Chersky since December 30 to equip the vessel with wielding and other equipment ahead of its works on the Kirinskoye gas deposit with a possible shift to Yuzhno-Kirinskoye deposit. Both deposits are part of the Sakhalin-3 project.
Energy Minister Alexander Novak said in December that Akademik Chersky is one of the options for completing Nord Stream-2, which will require some upgrading. On Sunday, the vessel left of port of Nakhodka for Singapour, where it is to arrive on February 22.
